Rear Access Panels

A word about rear access panels -

All Lame Horse guitars have a rear access panel. We could not build a world class acoustic guitar without an access panel. The primary purpose of the panel is to allow us to easily fine tune the sound of the instrument during the building process by making adjustments to the bracing and sound board thickness and weight. However, almost as important a purpose of the panel is to allow easy visualization of the interior of the instrument to detect and repair problems should damage ever occur. Since the interior of the instrument is so visible to anyone who cares to look, the access panel lets us use the interior of the instrument as another pallet to show off our artwork. The beauty of the inside of a Lame Horse guitar is indicative of the care and craftsmanship that goes into every detail of the instrument – even those details that are not immediately obvious. Our dear friend, the late, great, Harry Fleishman, summed up the value of having an access panel in the side of a guitar when he said, “Building a fine guitar without an access panel is like buying a Ferrari and welding the hood shut.”
