Big Hoss – The War Horse
Italian Alpine Spruce top – European Bird’s Eye Maple Back and Sides

This Big Hoss guitar is one of the best all around guitars we have ever heard. It has thunderous bass. The resonant frequency of this guitar’s top is more than 20 hertz below that of a really good Martin OM. The result is a guitar which can loudly reproduce low frequency notes superbly. Yet, it produces crystal clean trebles with tremendous sustain, and gets louder as one plays up  higher on the fingerboard. It is a fantastic fingerstyle guitar.

However, this guitar is quite schizophrenic. A player can strum or flat pick this guitar about as hard as one wants, and it still sounds great. The sound is clear and clean with a full spectrum voice.

Recently, well known, classically trained, singer-songwriter and guitar -piano virtuoso, Susan Werner used this guitar in concert. After the concert she was asked what she thought of the guitar. Susan is known for her intelligent wit. She replied, “After playing that thing, playing my (delete name of very popular American made guitar) is like playing a coffee table. That’s how responsive this guitar is.”

The rosette is an image of a Comanche War Horse. It contains 77 pieces of inlay. It is made of awabi abalone, black phenolic, coral, red pearl polyester, turquoise, paua abalone, and acrylic.
